Madaga Canopy Repair DIY

When the replacement pieces cost more than a new canopy frame, we knew a DIY repair was our only option.

Target Madaga Canopy Repair

Halloween snow, now we know! Our favorite deck weather is in fall, and we stretch our outdoor season to November 1st. Here in Chicagoland there’s always a chance of an early snow and the one year we waited to take down the canopy is when we most regretted it. Waking up to an inverted canopy is a shock.

Madaga Canopy Parts

Replacement parts are not easy to come by and what we found online was pricey, like more than the brand new cost. Most of our poles were able to be bent back to straight. One, however was kinked and actually split into two pieces.

Our local Ace Hardware had a pipe repair clamp that worked marvelously.

So, we joined the two pieces with electrical tape, making sure everything was aligned for installation. Then applied the pipe repair clamp with screws facing down, otherwise they might puncture the canopy fabric.

We still were unsure if our little DIY repair would work, but all came together. Here’s an underside shot of the result. Will be applying black paint to make it less obvious.
